Visit Stockbridge
Stockbridge is a charming town in Berkshires; the quintessential little town greets all its guests with the old buildings and storefronts lined-up on a street. This picturesque town on Berkshires hills, straddling the Williams River, is located just off the main highways. The Williams River Basin is formed by many brooks, lakes and ponds converging north of town, collecting at Shaker Mill Pond, flowing over the dam at the old Shaker Mill, and across the heart of town. With its enchanting location West Stockbridge is abundant with nature, art and culture, hospitality and various experiences. The places to hit in this town of dramatic views are full of exquisiteness.
Chester Wood
Visit Chester Wood, which was the summer home, studio and gardens of acclaimed American sculptor Daniel Chester French. It was built in the late 1800s for his family to stay when they came up from New York City to spent the summers in Stockbridge. French was one of America’s foremost public sculptors, with monuments in prominent display all around the country. French was a monumental master of his craft and is best known for his Abraham Lincoln memorial in Washington DC and the Minuteman statue in Concord Massachusetts where he grew up. You can tour the French’s House, studio, and gardens. While learning about his life, family and legacy, you will admire hundreds of his study models, creativity and finished works. Chester wood hosts outdoor contemporary sculpture exhibitions throughout the year, displaying works from a variety of artists. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and fun to explore all on their own. Follow a trail designed by French himself, for panoramic views of rolling mountains, a lovely country garden, and many more things. It’s easy to see how French could find such peace and inspiration in such a beautiful location where peacefulness lives.
Hancock Shaker Village, Pittsfield
Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield, is a living history museum in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. The Shakers were originally settled in the 1790 and left this village in 1959; it is now an open-air museum where you can stroll through the beautifully restored village which is set on the acres of farm woodland. This is a village where you can get a glimpse of the shakers lifestyle of community living and handcrafting, it’s still a working farm with animals and crops even though the shakers don’t live here anymore. Village seems like a slice of simple life which has been preserved to inspire and give a taste of shakers living style. Shakers created their own paradise and called this village ‘the city of peace’. Inside the red brick building you can experience what the community life would have looked like. You will see the collection of Shakers furniture, traditional oval boxes and clothing. You can also join their lively dance from where they got the name ‘shaker’.
Lenox

Hilltop orchards
Lenox is a town incorporated in 1767, nestled in a corner of the lush Southern Berkshires, the charismatic hamlet of Lenox is arguably best known for being the former residence of literary legend Edith Wharton. It has built an identity for few more characteristics such as a representation of historic New England Architecture, art galleries, boutiques, scenic landscapes, trails and parks, wellness resorts and world-class performing arts venues. The village is also a place for lakes where you can try some of water sports. Here, fall foliage looks vibrant and stunning around the lake sides.
It was established in 1934 on 24 acres of gardens and wild area, as the Berkshires garden centre. This botanical gem is revered as one of the older public display gardens in the northeast. It is just down the road from the Norman Rockwell Museum. The garden also referred as ‘Museum of Living things’ with over 3.000 species and varieties in its collection and a showcase of horticulture and garden designs. Garden looks beautiful through all seasons. You can spend hours wandering around admiring the local flora and fauna, and the small cottage gardens.
Visit to hilltop orchard in Richmond Massachusetts, it’s probably one of the most picturesque farms. Hilltop provides one of the best views in the Berkshires. This place is very popular for events of all kinds. Waking up early is worth for visiting Hilltop Orchards, It’s beautiful to see the morning mist make way for the sunshine and hear the birds wake up on the hilltop. Orchards have many varieties of apples that all competes with each other in their own unique flavours.
Normal Rockwell Museum
Norman Rockwell Museum, drawing on the simple classicism of New England’s traditional public buildings gives you a warm Welcome. The famous American painter and illustrator, Norman Percevel Rockwell lived in Stockbridge for last 25 Years of his life. You will be surprised and delighted at the magnificence of Rockwell’s large scale original paintings and discover the highly relatable art that illustrates the stories. His art has the light-hearted humour that brings out smiles, through the day-to-day life moments that has been often portrayed in his paintings for which he used his neighbours as models for his heart warming hometown scenes, along with more serious historical events. Rockwell is best known for his artwork in the Saturday Evening Post which he created over 300 illustrations throughout a period of 47 years.

Visit his studio which is just at the short stroll from the museum, the studio is lively as he left it, you feel his presence while roaming inside the studio.
Visit Naumkeag Historic House
Naumkeag House was built in 1886 for Joseph Hodges Choate, which is a national historic landmark region. The estate’s centre piece is a 44-room, Shingle style country house. You will witness the use of local wood on the dormers coving. The house has a western façade where family use to sit and relax to witness the sunsets with the incredible vista of the Berkshires Hills. Other façade which has the main entrance of the house, showcase the Norman Style Castle which means it was inspired by the European Norman Keats and English manor halls. This is a treat for a history enthusiast and explorer of different architectures. The estate is noted for its large gardens, which were designed in the mid-20th century by noted landscape designer Fletcher Steele in conjunction with Mabel Choate.
